Boeing Defense, Space, and Security is seeking a motivated and experienced Program Chief Engineer.

As a Program Chief Engineer (PCE) (Level 6) you will oversee the execution of program engineering efforts and ensure the safety, technical excellence, and integrity of product design, development, production, and mission success. The PCE is the senior engineering leader for the program and the senior technical interface to customers, teammates, and suppliers. The PCE will report to the Boeing Cruise Missile Systems Chief Engineer and be dedicated to supporting the development, qualification, certification, and production of a large ($1.9B) development and production program.

The Boeing Cruise Missile Systems portfolio comprises medium and long range ship-, air-, land-, and submarine-launched weapons systems, including the Harpoon Weapon System and the Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response. Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety, technical excellence, and integrity of product design, development, production, and mission success

  • Drive execution of the program engineering scope of effort

  • Control the program technical baseline to include specification, configuration, design, and certification/verification of the product

  • Manage program technical status and communicate to internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead the Engineering Review Board (ERB), independent reviews, technical risk and opportunity management, and program technical reviews

  • Manage program engineering staffing requirements

  • Lead productivity improvement and cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with engineering functions

  • Employ strong leadership, communication and coaching skills to direct and guide a team of high performing engineers

  • Establish a culture of proactive technical oversight, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and opening dialogue on technical issues

  • Prevent traveled technical scope and risk and ensuring technical risks/issues/opportunities are driven rapidly to closure

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 10 or more years' of experience in an engineering leadership role (lead, project management, etc.)

  • 5 or more years' of experience leading engineering teams on a DoD program

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Master degree in engineering

  • Experience in weapons engineering development and/or weapons production

  • Experience with US Navy and/or US Air Force qualification and certification activities

  • Experience working with executive and non-executive teams in developing integrated strategies to achieve short-term and long-term strategies

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
