Stantec is currently seeking a Translation Project Coordinator. The translation team is based in Montreal, but you can work remotely or in hybrid mode from one of our offices in Québec, Ontario, New Brunswick or Alberta.

Key responsibilities

Working in close collaboration with the Translation Team Lead, you will be the main point of contact for internal clients. You will analyze translation requests and ensure that the Translation team has all the information needed to successfully complete assigned projects. The team translates and revises a wide array of documents for all of Stantec's business lines and teams, including technical disciplines, communications, finance, legal, marketing, quality, human resources, health and safety, information technology, etc. More specifically, you will:

  • Reply to emails from internal clients and clarify their requests;

  • Analyze translation requests using translation software;

  • Negotiate deadlines and record and monitor translation projects;

  • Ensure the efficient coordination of translation projects;

  • Effectively manage relationships with internal clients and vendors;

  • Format and quality check documents;

  • Suggest changes to processes and working methods with an aim to optimize the translation team's productivity and efficiency;

  • Update the translation memory (aligning texts, updating or correcting terminology records, etc.);

  • Perform other related tasks as required (e.g., follow up on billing).

You may also translate, edit and proofread documents.

Qualifications

Required skills and experience

  • Degree in translation or similar field of study;

  • Experience in managing translation projects;

  • Experience working as an in-house translator or in a translation agency;

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English;

  • At least five (5) years' relevant experience;

  • Excellent knowledge of the Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and translation tools;

  • Organizational skills, thoroughness, attention to detail, autonomy, resourcefulness and ability to prioritize;

  • Great attention to quality;

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle several projects at once, while respecting priorities and tight deadlines;

  • Excellent ability to interact with internal clients and vendors;

  • Excellent collaboration skills;

  • Knowledge of engineering (an asset).
