Job Summary

The David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah has an immediate opening for a benefited ¾ time administrative assistant (30 hours per week) round out the support team for the Department of Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations ( QAMO ). This position will provide broad administrative support for faculty and staff of the department.

Our ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with clear communication skills and the ability to learn new processes quickly. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks received from multiple people to determine the order of importance to meet a variety of deadlines. Discretion and good judgement in daily work is a must. A successful candidate supports an inclusive, transparent, and supportive work environment while displaying a positive attitude. Experience with campus processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Applicants must demonstrate the potential to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  1. Process departmental purchases, employee travel, and reimbursements

  2. Liase with vendors, caterers, etc. and process payments

  3. Basic accounting and budget reconciliation

  4. Greet and direct visitors

  5. Assist with department events, meetings, and visitors—experience in planning is a plus

  6. Assist with department programs and projects

  7. Basic office duties such as preparing correspondence, ordering and managing supplies, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in business or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and three years full-time secretarial experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and direct supervisory experience preferred.
