University of Utah Associate Professor in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a new full-time research faculty member at the rank of associate professor in the tenure track as a human and mouse geneticist. This position requires the candidate to hold a doctoral degree in Biology or related field (e.g., Neuroscience or Human Genetics), have exceptional experience in securing federal funding, and a sincere desire to train and mentor others including undergraduate and graduate students. Interest and experience in the realm of osteoarthritis required and previous funding in the field preferred.Primary responsibilities include leading a research group focused on the identification of genes that cause osteoarthritis in large families and using those human OA-associated mutations to generate mouse models to determine the primary cause of osteoarthritis. The candidate should have a long-term goal of developing therapeutics to improve the diagnosis and treatment of individuals diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Candidate will have extensive experience with large population databases, human genomics and bioinformatics, molecular and cellular biology, and genome editing and functional analyses in mice and tissue culture.
