Reporting to the Academy Program Manager and working within the Office of Engagement leadership team, the Coordinator is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing a college prep program, the First Star University of Utah Academy, that hosts 30 rising 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th grade foster youth for a four-week, summer residential experience on a college campus and once per month Saturday Academies.The position may residential for the full four-week Academy session, over the course of the four-year program that aims to prepare youth for successful matriculation into 2 or 4- year colleges and universities.Responsibilities of the Coordinator during the summer academy include working with the Academy Program Manager and other staff to create a detailed program timeline, cover day-to-day operations, and program assessment related to the summer academy.Responsibilities include supervising staff, assisting the Academy Program Manager in ensuring a safe, nurturing environment exists at all times for the foster youth, mentoring, and mediating these youth when disciplinary issues arise.The Coordinator assists the Academy Program Manager in training student-staff and volunteers, as well as, supervising them over the full four-week summer program.
