Our GIS Technician will work with supervision to carry out assignments that
exercise independent judgement in providing gas facility and mapping
information to operations and other departments. Our GIS Technician will act
as a liaison with operations and outside agencies, coordinate with outside
agencies on their design plans and provide gas facility and mapping
information. Also, while in this role you will review third party
development, property plats, and design plans for issues with the gas
system in addition to entering land base information into the Geographic
Information System (GIS) using land plats, survey data, and/or
global positioning system data.

What you will do:
Enter proposed pipe into the GIS mapping system.
Prepare design drawings for main extensions and replacement projects.
Gather and compile information and data for use in engineering and other
tasks.
Prepare simple right-of-way descriptions using property plats and survey data
and prepare right-of-way exhibits.
Perform simple GIS spatial and data queries and analysis and creates reports
from the GIS system.
Assist with corrections in the GIS mapping system.
Maintain good record keeping of design drawings and GIS mapping.
Create new map data through digitization or by direct input of coordinate
information using the principles of cartography including coordinate
systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, large format
printer, color printer, and remote sensing devices.
Who you are:
You have:
An associate degree in Geography, GIS, or a closely related field OR a
High school diploma along with 2+ years of directly related experience such
as GIS database, mapping systems, drafting, construction, surveying OR
Military Service Member/Veterans ranks from E3-E5, W-1-W-2, or O3-O6
Directly related experience includes: GIS Database or mapping systems,
drafting, construction, inspection or survey
A valid driver's license that will be verified upon hire
You can:
Show strong computer and math skills to include algebra, geometry and
trigonometry
Read civil and mechanical engineering design drawings, filed notes, and
surveys
You are:
An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong problem solving and
time management abilities
Able to learn new technologies and address multiple tasks simultaneously
The following are considered assets:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS or closely related field
with 2+ years of directly related experience
Certificate of proficiency in GIS from a training center, technical
college, or university
Experience with creating and printing maps and drawings from GIS and/or CAD
systems
Previous experience with ESRI ArcMap and/or ArcPro
Working Conditions:
Work performed in typical office environment 90% of the time with up to
10% travel but will be required to work on call, overtime, rotating
shifts, overtime weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20
pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing,
sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect
color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to
sit at a computer for long periods of time.
