State of Utah - Jobs Juvenile Justice Grant Program Manager in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Governor's Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ) is looking for a self-motivated,well-organized individual to fill its 

Juvenile Justice Grant Program Manager

 position. This role maintains CCJJ s status as a recipient of Federal Title II funding and manages the distribution of funds sub-awarded to local agencies and organizations. This role is also the primary staff support to the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice.

Principal Duties

  1. Maintain CCJJ s status as a recipient of funding through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP) Title II Formula Grants Program.
    1. Develop and submit annual Federal grant applications,renewals,and amendments. This work will include narrative grant proposals and detailed budgets.
    2. Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports,including,budget reports,programmatic reports,and any other documentation required by OJJDP.
    3. Ensure compliance with Federal grant program regulations,which will require some statewide travel,including overnight stays. An estimated 5% of the employee s time each year will involve travel.
      1. Ensuring compliance includes onsite visits to all law enforcement,corrections,Juvenile Justice and Youth Services,courts,and other system stakeholders throughout the state to discuss and inspect for the lawful management of juveniles in custody.
    4. Work closely with the CCJJ grant management team and OJJDP staff.
  2. Manage the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice Grant Program.
    1. Coordinate annual grant application,review,and selection process for sub-award funding.
    2. Process monthly/quarterly grant reimbursement invoicing and quarterly progress reporting.
    3. Provide training and technical assistance to sub-awardees to ensure  State and Federal financial and grant guidelines are followed.
    4. Work closely with the CCJJ finance team.
  3. Act as the lead staff member for the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice
    1. Organize meetings for Board and working groups,including,the Racial & Ethnic Disparities Collaborative.
    2. Collaborate with juvenile justice system stakeholders.
    3. Work closely with the CCJJ juvenile justice team.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (four years) in a related field such as finance,public administration,or criminal justice.
  • Two or more years of work experience auditing or monitoring compliance with federal programs at state,local governments,or nonprofits (or an equivalent combination of education and experience allowed).
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently,prioritize own tasks,and problem solve in a results-driven team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as: Microsoft Office,including,but not limited to,Word,Excel,and PowerPoint,as well as Google applications,and grant management systems.

Utah Board of Juvenile Justice (UBJJ)

 serves as the designated State Advisory Group for the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA,34 U.S.C. ?11101) through the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. UBJJ establishes and maintains a comprehensive plan for Utah s compliance with the four core protections of the JJDPA,thus making Utah eligible for Federal grants. UBJJ then sub-grants federal funding statewide in a variety of program areas including delinquency prevention,positive youth development,juvenile justice system improvement,and juvenile record expungement services. UBJJ s mission is to promote the advancement of equitable,effective,and coordinated systems serving youth,families,and communities in the State of Utah.

Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice CCJJ)

 is the coordinating body for criminal and juvenile justice policy in Utah. CCJJ is staffed by various experts in their respective fields who assist the Commission in fulfilling its statutory duties and obligations set forth by the Governor and Legislature. CCJJ s mission is to connect and collaborate with system stakeholders on criminal and juvenile justice policy with the goal of reducing crime and delinquency in Utah.
