Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety, product quality and compliance with the Stryker, Quality Manual and its governing regulations.
Assist engineers and other technicians with qualification, verification, and validation activities as required.
Conduct troubleshooting and resolution of routine manufacturing problems.
Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and fixturing, being responsible for accurate documentation of efforts.
Maintain documentation as required.
Key technical interface with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and implement improvements (e.g., yields, processes, and productivity) in order to meet production goals.
Assist engineers in inventing/creating concepts and designs/approaches for new processes/test methods.
Assist with design, procurement, and fabrication of basic equipment tooling and fixtures.
Assist with design and coordination of basic engineering tests and experiments.
Summarize and analyze, test results. Assist with preparing standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
Work cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, and Production Specialists to ensure project success.
Maintain a clean, safe, health conscious work area using organizational skills and lockout/tag out knowledge.
Conduct safety audits.
Maintain MSDS information.
Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians.
Complete other tasks as assigned.

Preferred four (4) years experience as a technician or mechanic for machine / equipment operations; Experience may be substituted with relevant year for year college education.
Preferred 2+ years experience in regulated industry
Preferred experience setting up and maintaining lasers in a manufacturing setting
Preferred CNC programming experience
Preferred experience with new product introduction
With minimal supervisory direction this position conducts manufacturing support activities including preventive maintenance program requirements, product and process development support, and troubleshooting and resolving problems originating in manufacturing, and assists in the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment in order to achieve production goals (i.e., quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and safety).
Extensive knowledge base of electrical and mechanical equipment operation with a high degree of independence and accountability.
This role responds to the demands of the production lines including needs for increased equipment support as customer demands may require. This may include travel to suppliers to perform factory acceptance testing for new equipment.
Ability to demonstrate dexterity sufficiently to conduct soldering, joining, machine operations, and other manual assembly operations.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely; 75 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to respond to the dynamic equipment needs of the production line as required.
Ability to demonstrate safe work practices with electromechanical equipment.
Ability to analyze machinery failures and implement appropriate resolutions.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Ability to work independent of routine supervision.
Ability to interpret and implement non-complicated instructions, both verbal and written.
Ability to conduct basic arithmetic calculations.
