The Hartnett Lab in the Department of Ophthalmology seeks a Senior Lab Specialist to perform advanced laboratory techniques and procedures in a research laboratory. Must provide ERG and ophthalmic equipment technical support for animal model studies. The Lab Specialist will assist in maintaining the laboratory under the guidance and supervision of the Principle Investigator, as well as, assist with basic research experiments including molecular biology, tissue culture and tissue processing. Additionally, the Lab Specialist will assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of lab aides to assist with lab maintenance. A major component of this position will include quantifying vasculature of retinas. The ideal applicant should be self-motivated and have good record keeping and time management skills, and the ability to assist in grant preparation.
