Job Summary

The Division of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a research position working with the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center and the Rocky Mountains & Great Plains Center for Emergency Public Health. This individual will work with the Center Directors to manage the training opportunities conducted by these Centers for public health partners across the HHS Region VIII .

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates and directs the activities of staff engaged in training, orientation, or other related activities.

  2. Conducts research of current training formats, concepts, techniques, and programs for implementation within center training programs.

  3. Participates in reporting and analyzing center metrics.

  4. Conducts training needs assessment with customers, identifies goals and creates customized training curricula.

  5. Develops and manages training programs for external audiences from the public health system.

  6. Creates computer-based training ( CBT ) modules and storyboards.

  7. Formulates teaching objectives in conformance with selected instructional methods such as individual coaching, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.

  8. Assists management with strategic planning of center objectives and develops training mechanisms designed to enhance those goals. Coordinates the design of professional staff development opportunities.

  9. Conducts general or specialized training sessions and introduces new concepts to appropriate personnel.

  10. Prepares and implements adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, regulations and technologies.

  11. Works with center evaluator to develop evaluation methods in order to determine program effectiveness and makes modifications as needed.

  12. Plans, schedules, conducts and documents training programs.

  13. Selects or develops teaching aids such as handbooks, demonstration models, videotape, newsletters, multimedia visual aids and reference works.

  14. Oversees varied aspects of public relations functions and keeps the media informed regarding center issues.

  15. Works with LMS Contractor to maintain training content in the system up to date.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

Preferred a master’s degree in public health, health education, health communications, or a related field. Experience plus bachelors eligible. Good understanding of adult learning theory. Strong written and visual presentation skills. Ability to work with technical staff to troubleshoot problems. Experience working with public health agencies and organizations preferred.
