Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Manager of Clinical Operations Methodist Healthcare System who is responsible to the Director or Vice President for the organization and direction for planning and implementing centralized nursing scheduling and nursing resource pool system wide. Responsible for the coordination of staffing between the facilities to ensure equitable distribution of available staff. Works cooperatively with administrators, physicians, staff, other managers and all customers of the Methodist Healthcare System to provide services, which consistently meet and exceed the expectations of their customers. This is accomplished by assessing and prioritizing opportunities to improve, plan and implement effective changes and evaluate outcomes of process improvement activities. What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Directs all Central Nursing Scheduling functions system-wide to include management of float resources across the system and nursing agency usage.

  • Evaluates on-going productivity targets and benchmarking & recommends staffing adjustments as necessary to include monitoring staffing/scheduling practices and patterns and reports findings to Div VP, Nursing Resource Mgmt. /Operations and/or Nurse Executive team.

  • Responsible for the hiring, orientation, education and evaluation of resource pool staff. Responsible for creating enhancement in operations, managing projects and supporting Shared Leadership through the System Professional Practice Council.

  • Develops and directs the staffing, scheduling and workload systems for MHS to include establishing systems for capturing, tracking, reporting relevant operational statistics, such as: Vacancy/Turnover rate; Usage/Expense of Traveler/Agency; Sitter & OT/Over Percent.

  • Participates in the planning, development and management of operational and equipment budgets annually. Provides financial variance analysis reports in a timely manner. Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures according to budget limitations.

  • Completes assignments independently and to work as part of a team; takes instructions from supervisors’ to exercise problem-solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, patients, vendors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.

  • Evaluates the collaborative care system on unit(s) utilizing variance reports, clinical data, and cost/quality outcomes.

  • Anticipates the purchase or replacement of equipment with input from staff and physicians. Implements the equipment purchase process. Anticipates and recommends needs for added space and needed services not provided by the organization.

  • Communicates with staff and keeps staff current with appropriate information through staff meetings, newsletters and announcements. This includes educational needs identified for the unit, information from Process improvement activities, new technology/therapy/service, plant technology, safety program, findings from Infection Control, unit goals, objectives, and standards, and unit problems and their resolutions.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

  • Three years of RN experience in an acute care setting.

  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

  • Current TX RN license in good standing.
