Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY

Sells parts to all customers through the shop.

Responsibilities/Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists all shop customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Also, works within a team in a positive, efficient manner on a daily basis.

  • Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.

  • Provides high level of service and integrity to internal customers.

  • Pulls and fills orders from stock.

  • Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.

  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.

  • Notifies the service advisor when special ordered parts have been received.

  • Pulls orders for delivery to technicians, making sure all parts are tagged with RO number.

  • Follows up on back-ordered parts.

  • Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on the service RO.

  • Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original RO number is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.

  • Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, and special order parts.

  • Keeps rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.

  • Cleans computer terminals and printers daily.

  • Participates in all training programs that are made available.

  • Keeps current on new products and product updates.

  • Maintains professional appearance.

  • Works Saturdays on a rotating basis.

Required Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence including work orders and requests from internal customers, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand basic principles of automotive technology and parts assemblies.

Required Experience

One year experience with parts products and a minimum of two years' experience as a Parts Back Counter Salesperson.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent.
