Labcorp Clinical Laboratory Site Director / General Manager - Sequenom in San Diego, California

Sequenom, part of the Integrated Genetics Division of LabCorp, is focused on women's healthcare tests, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), and COVID PCR and COVID variant sequencing testing. We are seeking a Site Director to lead our clinical laboratory in San Diego, CA. The Site Director will be responsible for oversight of all operations at the facility including laboratory and support functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the technical and scientific operation of the clinical laboratory

  • Oversee personnel, testing, service, budgeting, expenses, quality and continuing education for the laboratory operation

  • Responsible for the development of the leadership team, including succession planning, development and promotion plans, and focus on strengthening individuals and their capabilities

  • Ensure quality accuracy and all quality monitors meet site and companywide objectives

  • Attend monthly Site Directors' conference calls and quarterly meetings

  • Remain available for telephone consultation with referring physician, clients, sales, and marketing groups. This may also include invitations to speak at grand rounds and assist with client visits for educational purposes

  • Responsible for ensuring suitable staffing levels are attained and maintained in the lab. Work closely with the VP, Operations to ensure needs are met. Assist in recruiting as appropriate

  • Assure that the site meets QA/QC guidelines, passes internal and external audits and maintains appropriate regulatory status

  • Assure site complies with all applicable policies and procedures

  • Adhere to company compliance and privacy programs

  • Oversee and assist in the development and implementation of new testing or methodologies in our facility

  • Work cooperatively with other laboratory Site Directors, administration and staff interacting on all issues that affect the laboratory network and overall division.

  • Special projects as assigned by VP, Lab Operations

  • Provide support to Customer Service team and Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience

  • Minimum 7 years of management experience

  • Extensive scientific knowledge in chromosomal, molecular and biochemical applications of clinical genetics

  • Previous experience managing a NGS or Sequencing clinical laboratory highly preferred

  • Ability to oversee multiple aspects of the operations

  • Ability to balance issues of staffing, workflow and caseload

  • Attention to detail, organizational ability, clinical judgement and good communication skills
