Key Responsibilities:

  • Study pathologist on toxicology, discovery, and pharmacology studies to include review of experimental/research protocols, provision of gross and microscopic evaluation of tissues and reporting of integrated results on a variety of nonclinical studies aimed at improving pre-clinical to clinical translation of both safety and efficacy.

  • Support drug discovery and development by providing scientific input in the design and conduct of toxicology experiments that focus on understanding/assessing the human risk of novel therapeutic targets and/or understanding mode of action for toxicity in nonclinical studies.

  • Monitor and conduct pathology peer reviews of outsourced GLP and non-GLP studies and/or act as a Principal Investigator for the histopathology phase of toxicology GLP studies.

  • As a target pathologist understand the target biology and distribution; and translate such to potential safety liabilities for use in development of Toxicologic pathology strategy.

  • Review nonclinical Pathology reports and regulatory documents and provide input in determining hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management, providing mentorship on issue resolution and mitigation strategies.

  • Be part of interdisciplinary nonclinical development teams to drive compound progression and issue resolution.

  • Identify and lead collaborative scientific efforts with internal, external, partners and academic investigators.

  • Interest and knowledge in molecular pathology to enable selection and interpretation of appropriate safety/ efficacy endpoints and the design of mechanistic studies.

  • Provide matrix mentorship to specialty laboratories and project pathologists

Qualifications

Education:

  • DVM or equivalent degree and PhD in toxicology or biomedical sciences is required

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • a minimum of 10 years of Toxicologic Pathology in a Biopharmaceutical setting is required

  • Toxicology and biomedical sciences expertise is required

  • Monitor and conduct pathology peer reviews of outsourced GLP and non-GLP studies and/or act as a Principal Investigator for the histopathology phase of toxicology GLP studies is required

  • Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Pathologists certification is required

  • up to 10% Domestic and international travel is required

Preferred:

  • familiarity with operations of pathology laboratories including molecular pathology techniques and assays is preferred

  • Diplomate, American Board of Toxicology certification is preferred

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 - $271,400 USD

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporations performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Companys discretion on an individual basis.

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
