Technical Safety Services Quality Control Operations Manager in San Diego, California

How will you make an impact?

As a Quality Control Manager, you will report to the Quality Director and develop a team of approximately 10 to 15 QC analysts. The Quality Control department evaluates field service documentation, identifies and logs errors or defects, and resolves issues effectively to meet client needs and final reporting. You will ensure field service documentation meet the expectations of TSS, regulatory, industry, and customer needs.  

We are looking for a strong operations leader to sponsor and lead the end-to-end transformation of the quality control process. You will lead the team to analyze issues, streamline processes, and prioritize the best opportunities for improvement. You will build the team’s expertise and effectiveness while also continuously evolving the Quality Control activities through business acquisitions and integrations. Application of Lean Six-Sigma principles is the recommended approach. This is an opportunity to influence and lead improvement across the E2E business operation. 

This position is a great fit for individuals with advanced problem solving abilities and passionate about continuous improvement. Previous experience with field services and Life Sciences industries or Healthcare is a bonus, but not required. You will receive training on our wide scope of field services and the TSS quality management system.   

What will you do?

  • Improve and maintain current functional QC processes and documents.  

  • Lead process improvement efforts and delegate actions to team members.   

  • Monitor operational productivity and provide updates on project goals. 

  • Manage a queue of customer projects requiring QC inspection for conformity to requirements. 

  • Manage requests for modifying field service documentation, in accordance with good data integrity.  

  • Review, trend, and analyze data quality error trends and communicate with applicable stakeholders to continuously improve quality of services.  

  • Collaborate with Quality Director and QA Manager on policies, goals and objectives, expansion of the QMS, and resources needed to meet expectations. 

  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Technical Writing to resolve ongoing issues impacting customer reporting and data integrity. 

  • Coordinate with other departments to adapt Quality Control needs for acquisitions and integrations, development of new services, changes to software, and developing training materials. 

  • Work may be fully remote with options for hybrid or in-office, where a TSS office is nearby.

    How will you get here?

    Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.  

  • Lean Six-sigma Green Belt preferred. 

  • 3 or more years in a quality-related, operations, or process improvement role. 

  • 3 or more years’ experience managing a remote team. 

  • Experience with GMP/GxP customers and awareness of ALCOA+ principles preferred. 

  • A combination of education, training and related experience may meet requirements

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent and demonstrated leadership and management skills.

  • Advanced analytical skills to organize, plan, and coordinate Quality Control activities. 

  • Ability to develop a project plan to achieve continuous improvement and objectives for the company. 

  • Ability to quickly understand technical requirements, business needs, and communicate internally. 

  • Ability to manage a team of QC analysts and achieve productivity and error reporting goals. 

  • Knowledgeable in basic statistics and able to analyze data through software such as Excel.  

  • Ability to work remotely and independently with effective time management and prioritization skills. 

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
