  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex situations, including responding to parties sensitively and confidentially, ability to track multiple cases, meeting various deadlines, maintaining neutrality, working well under stress, and performing duties impartially and confidentially throughout the investigation process.

  • Ability to work as part of a university-wide community to resolve complaints neutrally and sensitively.

  • One year of related experience and/or training in the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting quantitative analysis of case management data.

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting research.

  • Proficient skill in preparing concise, analytical, and cogent reports.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications with an emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS , and PowerPoint.

  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as they apply to Clery Act, VAWA , and FERPA .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an HR Generalist, EEO Investigator, Employee Relations Specialist, Paralegal or related position; or advanced degree from an accredited in a related field.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • No less than 2 years of related experience and/or training in the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Trained in Trauma Informed Interviewing.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations related to discrimination and Title IX.

Job Description

The Compliance Specialist reports to the AVP for the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX Coordinator, who is responsible for the administration of the relevant institutional policies, association, federal, and state regulations. The Title IX Intake Coordinator works collaboratively with various offices at the University to ensure compliance with Title IX, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, and other related local, state, and federal regulations. The Compliance Specialist serves as the first point of contact for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX. In this role, the Compliance Specialist manages the coordination of supportive measures and conducts preliminary assessment interviews for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX. The Compliance Specialist is responsible for compiling, preparing, and managing departmental compliance documentation. The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Job Duties

  • Review and assess reports and complaints that are submitted to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX via the university’s case-management system, Maxient.

  • Assist in case management, including case file organization, case correspondence, data tracking, and weekly data reports.

  • Assist in scheduling and conducting prompt, equitable and impartial supportive measures/preliminary assessment meetings in response to complaints of discrimination, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, and protected class discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation.

  • Prepare timely and accurate preliminary assessment summary reports for OEO to review in accordance with university policies.

  • Identify and analyze trends or patterns in case data to help improve OEO’s processes and procedures.

  • Assists in preparing reports as necessary to comply with Federal and State requirements.

  • Ability to communicate sensitive information with individuals and explain the Title IX process, available support, rights, and options.

  • Respond to inquiries from members of the university community regarding matters related to university discrimination and harassment policies. Coordinates communication and correspondence with reporting parties, complainants, respondents, witnesses, and others.

  • Collaborate and consult with internal and external partners including legal counsel, investigators, neighboring institutions, advocates/advocacy centers, and law enforcement.

  • Design and disseminate educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of their rights and responsibilities under Title IX, state law and University policy.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
