Quality Engineer

Department: Manufacturing

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Mexicali

Reporting To: Quality Manager

Compensation: $1,500 / day

Description

Quality Engineers are responsible for ensuring consistent application of quality techniques, providing statistical information for quality improvement, and investigating, analyzing, and resolving quality problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical analysis of processes like MSA, SPC using applicable data/statistics, quality tools, and software

  • Identify and record problems relating to product lines and initiate actions to prevent recurrence of nonconformities relating to products and processes

  • Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new product designs and new supplier materials through defined new product development process

  • Monitor and support site quality objectives by maintaining metrics. Report these on a regular recurring basis

  • Lead performance improvement projects to increase facility capability and consistently meet company and customer requirements

  • Participate in documentation review, approval, revision, or creation as necessary to ensure proper documentation of processes like procedures, FMEA and PPAP.

  • Review customer complaints and complete 8D reports to prevent recurrence

  • Perform assigned audits according to the supplier auditing program

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering with a Quality emphasis

  • Bilingual

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

  • Experience working in a factory certified to IATF16949 and ISO 9001

  • Experience auditing suppliers using the VDA 6.3 standard

  • Experience with various improvement tools, including 8D, Lean Six Sigma, Five Whys, Pareto Analysis, FMEA Kaizen, Cpk, etc.

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in quality department.

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills

  • Work well in a high-volume production environment with minimal supervision.

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Minitab.

  • Availability to travel to suppliers, customers, or corporate meetings in USA.
