Applied Materials Sr. Manager, NPI Strategic Sourcing in Santa Clara, California

Applied Materials’ Global Supply Chain, has a career growing opportunity for an experienced Sr. Manager to manage the NPI Strategic Sourcing group for one of Applied’s largest Business Units and a leader in the industry for over two decades – Dielectric Deposition Products (DDP). The Sr. Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to Materials Projects Managers working on designing and commercializing supply chains for DDPs new products. This Sr. Manager will lead supply chain initiatives for multiple, high value NPI projects, in a very fast passed and matrixed environment and will work closely with with the engineering teams to enable rapid prototyping and commercialization, in alignment with Applied’s global commodity strategies. Along with managing and achieving metrics such as material cost, lead time, dual sourcing, and supply continuity risk mitigation, the individual will be presenting the team’s supply chain strategies to executive management.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Has direct supervisory responsibility of 3-5 Materials Project Managers (MPM)

  2. Evaluates employee performance and provides recommendations for promotions and merit increases

  3. Serves as a cross-functional link; maintain open communication among matrixed stakeholders

  4. Influences others across a matrix of functions throughout the program/project

  5. Ensures that key supply chain metrices are met for all programs across the business units

  6. Drives alignment between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance & quality on key insource/outsource decisions

  7. Leads MPMs to coordinate product development process deliverables through a matrix organization of engineers, commodity business managers, buyers, planners, and production control.

  8. Supervises MPMs to create, release and update new project materials strategy

  9. Guides MPMs in supplier price and delivery negotiations; leads “high-stakes” negotiations

  10. Ensures that new products are meeting material cost targets and Gross Margin targets; facilitate and maintain Cost Apportionment Models

  11. Guides program team to identify cost reduction opportunities through design, content reduction/should cost and commercial means; ensures timely implementation of such opportunities

  12. Supervises supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts

  13. Supervises MPMs to understand drivers for long lead material and develop mitigation strategies

  14. Develops and executes dual sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risk of new products prior to commercialization

  15. Negotiates exclusivity agreements for differentiated products

  16. Oversees commercialization (transition) of materials plan

  17. Is a point of escalation to mediate and resolve supplier quality issues for assigned product groups; escalate issues to Commodity Business Managers/Heads when necessary.

  18. Presents new product sourcing strategies to GM, COO & Commodity Heads

Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology field; Master's in Industrial Engineering or MBA highly preferred. 3-5 years of experience managing a team of MPMs in a high tech industry is preferred; semiconductor industry is a plus.

U.S. Salary Range:

$148,000.00 - $203,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
