Job Description:

L3Harris is supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and requires an Operations Lead for a Space Sensor solution currently in the on-orbit demonstration and test phase named Hypersonic Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) Post- LEOT (Launch and Early Orbit Test). The Operations Lead is responsible for the management and leadership of the HBTSS team and is responsible for training, certification for all operator positions. Certified to augment crew operations, when required. Responsibilities include planning, controlling, and directing all activities associated with program activities. This position will have a direct interface with the customers, suppliers, and stakeholder leadership. Attend Daily Operations Stand-up meetings, shift changeover meetings, inputs to monthly in-progress reviews, milestone reviews and gate reviews.

Essential Functions:

The operations lead will oversee engineering and flight operations crew to ensure the following are successfully completed:

  • Operate the HBTSS satellite in accordance with the applicable HBTSS Operations documentation. The MDSOC is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to meet the requirements of the space vehicle, mission, and ground system.

  • Develop and verify satellite & payload command plans and support government-led anomaly resolution processes. All performer-developed command plans shall be provided to the government for approval.

  • Conduct satellite operations in accordance with approved command plans and will coordinate/support/execute orbital analysis to support HBTSS Health and Status, Mission Data, Collision Avoidance, Station Keeping, Maneuver Planning, Ground Entry Point Access, Data Downlink and Distribution, Payload Visibility Analysis, Anomaly Reporting and Resolution, and HBTSS/Space Development Agency Wide Field of View formation operations.

  • Support Test Mission Planners as needed in planning, execution, mission assurance, and analysis of test events/targets of opportunity.

  • Support the Factory Support Center in command planning and verification, support anomaly support and resolution, and processing and trend analysis of State of Health data for the space vehicle and payload.

  • Execute Disposal Operations as planned in the Satellite End of Life Plan, as developed by the Test Mission Planning team. Upon notification of Disposal Operations by the Agreements Officer, collaborate on the tasks that need to be completed on this agreement to execute Disposal Operations.

  • Train and certify performer Flight Operations personnel to support satellite operations. The training and certification plan will be briefed to Program Management and updated monthly with status and get-well plans as needed.

  • Operations support includes attending Daily Operations Stand-up meetings, shift changeover meetings, inputs to monthly in-progress reviews.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

  • This position may require occasional night and/or weekend work depending on mission requirements.

  • Travel is less than 10% of time.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

  • Active Secret Clearance required.

  • Experience as a Satellite Systems or Ground System Operator to include telemetry, tracking and commanding.

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $106,500 - $197,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
