Vanguard Manager, Fund & Investment Operations/Investment Support in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vanguard’s Investment Operations (IOPS) & Global Investment Data Management (GIDM) Service Organizations provide a global 24/6 real time support, issue resolution, and end-to-end stewardship of investment & trading data provided to front office portfolio management and trading systems . The team supports all of Investment Mgmt Group (IMG) inclusive of the Fixed Income Group (Taxable & Tax-Exempt) and Equity Investment Group (QEG & Index) desks.

The IOPS Service Manager will support the crew in Arizona responsible for the execution of daily IOPS Service responsibilities that includes E quity Middle Office ( MO ) , F ixed Income MO, and Muni MO. The leader will be in cross team initiatives and global projects that apply investment and functional expertise to drive business results. The manager will be responsible for influencing departmental strategies focused on the near term (1-3 year ).

The Fund & Investment Operations- Investment Support Manager:

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Develops and implements the team's operational framework. Leads collaboration between leaders to ensure regional and global consistency of process implementation. Consults and advises key stakeholders, acts as subject matter and technical expert, identifies and resolves complex operational issues. Leads internal control framework improvements and formulates strategic recommendations.

  • Proactively identifies and mitigates external events and regulatory changes that impact team. Oversees various control standards to ensure compliance globally.

  • Leads improvement initiatives designed to enhance the team's response and preparedness to portfolio events and proactively anticipates portfolio events. Performs root cause analysis and applies findings to global process improvement efforts.

  • Demonstrates strong industry-wide investment management knowledge and provides thought leadership to global teams. Understands key drivers that impact the team and its clients, utilizing knowledge to identify opportunities that enable service to continuously improve. Fosters investment acumen development on team.

  • Leads improvement initiatives to anticipate business needs and portfolio events. Develops tools to streamline and improve service delivery.

  • Manages cross divisional stakeholders’ relationship and sets service level agreements with the front office.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Minimum of seven years related work experience, with at least two years of Investment Operations experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Accounting or Finance degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.

  • CFA or other financial designation preferred.
