Enrollment Services has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications to join their team.
The Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications leads the strategy, development, and implementation of marketing and communication efforts for prospective undergraduate students at the University of Washington Tacoma. The Assistant Director will supervise a Marketing and Communications Specialist and a team of student employees. The role involves close collaboration with campus partners and external vendors to deliver impactful recruitment campaigns and materials. Expertise in digital communications, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and print collateral is essential to support the development and execution of recruitment strategies that achieve enrollment objectives. This role ensures that messaging aligns with institutional goals, effectively engages prospective students, and elevates UW Tacoma’s visibility in a competitive admissions landscape.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise, train, and mentor a Marketing and Communications Specialist and student marketing team (5), fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Provide leadership in setting priorities, managing workloads, and ensuring timely execution of communication projects,
Marketing and Communications Development
• Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans for prospective undergraduate students, utilizing electronic communications, social media, and print materials.
• Lead digital marketing efforts, including email campaigns, web content, video storytelling, and social media initiatives, to engage diverse audiences effectively.
• Partner with the UW Tacoma Advancement Marketing and Communications team to align strategies with the university’s brand and messaging guidelines.
• Oversee the design and production of admissions collateral, such as brochures, flyers, postcards, and digital assets.
CRM Utilization and Data Management
• Leverage Technolutions Slate CRM to design, execute, and monitor automated email campaigns, event invitations, and communication workflows.
• Analyze CRM data to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and inform future marketing strategies.
Campus and Vendor Collaboration
• Build and maintain strong relationships with campus partners, including academic units, student support offices, and Advancement to align messaging and highlight UW Tacoma’s programs and resources.
• Collaborate with external vendors to manage print and digital projects, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
Strategic Recruitment Support
• Partner with UW Tacoma recruitment staff to identify communication needs and opportunities to effectively engage diverse student populations.
• Develop targeted communication plans to address the unique needs of first-generation, transfer, and underrepresented student groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field and a minimum of two years of experience in admissions, marketing, communications, or digital communications, preferably in higher education.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, with preference for experience using Technolutions Slate.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships across diverse groups.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of undergraduate admissions and recruitment processes.
• Experience creating inclusive and accessible communications for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop).
• Experience with digital advertising platforms, such as Google Ads or social media ad management.
