Amazon's Operations Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to join our workplace health and safety legal team. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to support Amazon’s Operations and Worldwide Health & Safety team to develop industry leading safety solutions for our employees and service providers. The scale and complexity of our worldwide safety and health program is exceptional and rapidly growing.

You will be a part of a team responsible for counseling our Operations business on a broad range of health and safety regulatory compliance matters and global security matters. Principal duties include developing compliance policies and procedures, providing day-to-day compliance guidance to the health and safety, operations, and security teams, and resolving issues that arise during regulatory and law enforcement interactions including inspections and citations. Some domestic travel is required.

Qualified candidates must have five or more years of legal experience advising on regulatory compliance matters, preferably in workplace health and safety or representing businesses during complex litigation in a variety of subject matters. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, pragmatic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. and membership in at least one state bar

  • 5+ years of legal experience in regulatory compliance matters or complex litigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in warehousing, manufacturing, logistics or transportation health & safety compliance and crisis management

  • Experience in occupational medicine

  • A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations

  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
