The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Financial Access Specialist Lead .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE (40 hours per week)

  • First Shift

  • Hybrid Monday through Friday, flexible between 6:00am – 6:00pm. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION A regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for innovative patient care, research and educational programs, the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology combines the sophisticated testing and informatics capabilities of fully accredited laboratories with the resources of an academic institution in its delivery of clinical and anatomic pathology services.   • State Employee Tuition Exemption Program covering up to 6 credits of qualifying coursework per quarter at the University of Washington or other participating colleges or universities PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Performs and leads the work of the Financial Access Specialists within Laboratory Medicine. Under general direction, the person in this role leads team meetings, regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of the Financial Access Specialists. Participates in interviewing applicants, trains and orients new employees, provides feedback on employee performance, and identifies and resolve challenges.This individual will estimate genetic tests and professional charges, calculate anticipated total charges and patient financial responsibility; communicates to patients the potential financial responsibility, necessary deposits, and facilitates collection of amounts owed. The person in this role advises patients, geneticists, genetic counselors and pathologists regarding eligibility criteria of insurance coverage and benefits for genetic testing. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED certificate plus three years of experience in a medical office setting OR

  • Equivalent education/experience. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of Genetics and rDNA testing.

  • Experience with complete testing procedure, from receipt of Test Requisition Form to completion of test.
