Amazon Software Development Engineer, Artificial General Intelligence in Seattle, Washington

Are you interested in advancing Amazon's Generative AI capabilities? The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a talented SDE to play a pivotal role in expanding information grounding for Large Language Models (LLMs). Come work with a talented team of engineers and scientists building state-of-the-art Generative AI, conversational agent technology.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate key components needed to ground large language models (LLMs) powering conversational agents

  • Collaborate with team members on design approaches, tracer bullets, production implementation, and end-to-end validation

  • Work closely with Applied Scientists to ensure functioning dependencies via foundational model training and fine-tuning, in-context learning, and prompt engineering

A day in the life

As a SDE with the AGI team, you will be responsible for leading the development high performance, low latency, cutting edge component integrations to advance state of the art Conversational Assistant agents. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of conversational agent innovations. You will drive system architecture decisions, and contribute to best practices that enable a quality infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or Rust

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems

  • Experience with high throughput cloud systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
