Susquehanna University Building Technician II - Electrical in SELINSGROVE, Pennsylvania

Job Summary   Reporting to the Electrical Services Manager, the Building Technician II-Electrical will help maintain and repair campus electrical systems under senior staff supervision. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of lighting, power, fire alarm and door control systems across the university. This position is classified as non-exempt under FLSA regulations.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist in installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical panels.
  • Follow detailed instructions from senior electricians to learn and perform tasks effectively.
  • Help in diagnosing malfunctions in electrical systems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in maintaining records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Support the implementation of new electrical projects as guided by senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety codes and regulations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational or technical training in electrical systems is preferred. 

* Experience*

As an entry level position, no prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Basic knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance practices. Ability to follow instructions and effectively communicate with team members. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures. Basic proficiency with tools and diagnostic equipment. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements

This position requires a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university's insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.

 

Physical Demand

Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
