We’re looking for a Intellectual Property Attorney
The primary responsibility of the Intellectual Property Attorney is to work closely with the development teams to identify and protect Entrust inventions, map competitor patent portfolios, conduct freedom to operate reviews, and support the commercial teams by reviewing intellectual property contracts and clauses. The position will report to the Senior Intellectual Property Attorney and will help support global IP processes in the dynamic payments, identity and data spaces. The Intellectual Property Attorney is expected to perform the responsibilities detailed below and other duties as assigned.
This role is hybrid, which means the selected candidate will work from our HQ located in Shakopee, MN a portion of their time, based on company needs.
How you will make an impact:
Work with development teams and outside counsel to develop the global patent portfolio, especially in the digital platform and SaaS spaces
Participate in IP review meetings
Map competitor patent portfolios and support freedom to operate processes
Draft, review and negotiate IP contracts and clauses in support of the Entrust business segments
Provide legal support and guidance to a global organization on a broad range of intellectual property matters as required
Collaborate with internal clients at all levels to effectively minimize legal risk to the business while supporting and assisting in the achievement of the company’s business and strategic objectives
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company’s business and business practices; engage in a participative and proactive style of legal practice in order to best serve internal clients
Work in collaboration with other in-house attorneys and outside counsel
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific or technical discipline
Juris Doctor degree
2+ years of experience in the intellectual property field
Admission to the Bar of at least one state (preferably MN)
Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Experience working with software and/or digital platform technology and patents
Experience with mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence and integration activity)
Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment for a successful, growing company with very high expectations
Experience drafting and/or reviewing confidentiality, license, joint development or other technology agreements
Ability to work with cross-functional teams, take leadership role in driving solutions, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Excellent business judgment with the ability to make decisions and give advice that demonstrates an understanding of overall business objectives
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Prior in-house experience is a plus
