Summary

The Configuration Engineer role is an Engineering position involved in all aspects of product life cycle management reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and to cover both Polymers and Composites sites. The primary responsibilities include the creation, maintenance, control, validation and verification of all aspects of product configuration in respect of the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and / or any associated packages, document files and libraries. The Configuration Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of configuration data and facilitating smooth operational workflows within the organisation. The Configuration Engineer role is an Engineering position involved in all aspects of product life cycle management reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and to cover both Polymers and Composites sites. The primary responsibilities include the creation, maintenance, control, validation and verification of all aspects of product configuration in respect of the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and / or any associated packages, document files and libraries. The Configuration Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of configuration data and facilitating smooth operational workflows within the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and, within the scope of PLM, maintenance of product bill of materials, material masters and routing on the SAP ERP system.

  • Creation, maintenance and management of document records on the SAP ERP, Q-Pulse and associated systems.

  • Creation and review / release of Engineering Change Notifications (ECN).

  • New product cost creation in support of Methods Engineering when required.

  • Keep a well-maintained configuration log and create and update documentation to support configuration management activities.

  • Ensure strict adherence to change control processes, company requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Document Control: Strong skills in document control, including the ability to organise, catalogue, and securely store various types of technical documents and digital data.

  • Data Management: Capability to manage and maintain databases related to configuration data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial, as this role involves handling critical documents and data with precision to prevent errors or discrepancies.

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation is beneficial, especially in industries with complex technical products.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate interactions with team members, customers, and suppliers, as well as to document changes and procedures.

  • Problem solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to configuration management, document control, and data integrity.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analysing data, interpreting trends, and making informed decisions based on quality metrics and performance indicators.
