This is a temporary/seasonal position with the City's Parks and Recreation Department. This position will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverage items as well as the sale of various other concessions merchandise items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepares and serves food and beverage items.
- Receives payment for purchased merchandise, makes change and issues necessary receipts.
- Set up, clean and break down food and beverage preparation and serving areas.
- Balances daily receipt to monies received and prepares daily deposit record.
- Uncrates, stacks, shelves and stores food and beverage supplies and other concessions merchandise.
- Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Sanitary practices and procedures used in food and beverage service.
- Basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Ability to
:
- Operate simple food service utensils and equipment.
- Operate a cash register and accurately make necessary transactions.
- Make accurate arithmetic calculations.
- Exercise sound judgement and adhere to established safety procedures.
- Courteously and tactfully, deals with concession stand patrons.
- Lift a minimum of 60lbs without assistance.
- Work evenings and weekends.
Experience and Education
:
Any combination equivalent to the level of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities will qualify.
Experience:
- Previous foodservice or retail sales experience.
Education:
- Literacy equivalent to the successful completion of the Ninth Grade.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of a current Food Handlers permit from the County Health Department is highly desirable.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Incumbents assigned to this position must be physically capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing a minimum of 60lbs without assistance on a daily basis. Additionally, incumbents assigned to this position must be physically capable of bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching above shoulder height in order to reach all areas of assigned work station and when receiving materials and stocking shelves with materials and supplies. Incumbents assigned to this position can expect to perform essential job duties in a variety of work environments where the incumbent can reasonably expect to be exposed to various weather conditions such as extreme heat and prolonged exposure to the sun, wind, rain, hail and lightning as well as various hazardous substances such as caustic chemical agents and compounds, dust, chemical cleaning agents and moderately loud noise levels on a routine basis. Additionally, incumbents assigned to this position routinely work with equipment such as grills; deep fat fryers and other food service related equipment, all of which can expose incumbents to dangerously hot and/or oily surfaces.
