Universal Health Services DIRECTOR- SOCIAL WORK SERVICES (BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CENTER) in SHERMAN, Texas

Responsibilities

Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the BHC Chief Executive Officer, this position is responsible to develop, plan, organize, implement and evaluate clinical social work programs for both in patients and out patients within the BHC facility. Responsibilities include timely, accurate completion of social work assessments of patients, organizing and monitoring daily program schedules, serve as referral liaison, adhere to federal and state court requirements as well as discharge planning. Supervise all social work services and related healthcare staff to improve quality of life for mentally ill patients. Understand appropriate aspects of financial, legal, human resources, marketing, technology and clinical social work responsibilities of the behavioral health program. Assist BHC by answering questions posed by patients, families, staff, management and government officials. Train staff, coordinate work schedules, supervise clinicians, oversee departmental budget, apply for applicable grant funding, evaluate staff performance and provide workshop training. Communicate any state or federal regulations changes to the CEO.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree required in Social Work, Health Administration, Healthcare MBA or Master of Public Health with concentration in Social and Behavioral Health from an accredited college or university. Classes in psychology, counseling or related mental health field.

  • Minimum of three (3) years as a Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor in a psychiatric or substance abuse treatment program facility. Experience in a healthcare organization with high volume acute care admissions strongly preferred. Experience with federal and Texas state court systems required as it relates to behavioral health patients.

  • Must have current LCSW, LMSW or LPC Texas licensure. AHA or ARC BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider card showing completion of cognitive and skills evaluation in accordance with the curriculum of AHA BLS (CPR & AED) program within 30 days of employment or transfer to the position.

  • Ability to identify and address the special needs of the adolescent, geriatric and adult psychiatric patient as it relates to an acute care and behavioral healthcare settings. Strong communication skills, verbally and written. Ability to organize, prioritize and maintain professional composure during emotional interactions with patients. Demonstrate excellent leadership and training skills. Ability to fairly and consistently execute policies and processes. Partners with BHC facility leadership as well as TMC facility leadership to provide excellent patient care. • Follows Just Culture principles to ensure just assessment of individual acts.
