ASM Global Bartender in Shreveport, Louisiana

POSITION: Bartender

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Banquet Captain & Food & Beverage Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt – Part Time Hourly

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Bartender at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Under direction of the Director of Food & Beverage and the Food & Beverage Manager, the Part Time Bartender member's primary responsibilities include the following functions in accordance with ASM policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide total guest satisfaction through skilled and capable service in accordance with Shreveport Convention Center/ Municipal Auditorium standards.

  • Mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to patrons of bar, following standard recipes.

  • Serves wine and draught or bottled beer.

  • Collects money for drinks served.

  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display.

  • May slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.

  • Maintaining cleanliness of bar area.

  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service is a must.

  • This is a fast paced position that will involve constant customer interaction.

  • Position is very hands on.

  • Verifies inventory counts and checks bar supplies to ensure bar is stocked and set up.

  • Interacting with customers, taking orders and serving snacks and drinks.

  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.

  • Inputs sales using POS system, accepting payment and calculating change accurately.

  • Monitor order and restock bar inventory to keep operations flowing smoothly.

  • Maintain inventory sheet and other related paperwork.

  • Balance cash receipts at conclusion of event.

  • Comply with all inventory control measures.

  • Break down bar and store supplies at end of function.

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized and stocked work area following sanitation standards.

  • Maintain professional relationship with all coworkers.

  • All duties are to be performed in accordance with Louisiana State Alchahol standards and regulations as well as Company policies, practices and procedures.

  • Follows direction of Captain and Management at all times.

Other duties may be assigned.

Working Conditions

  • The working hours are scheduled based on the needs the facility. PART-TIME ON-CALL scheduling.

  • There is no guarantee of hours on a weekly basis.

  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to report to work as scheduled.

  • Maintain a client service oriented attitude.

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends and holidays and can work flexible schedules

  • NON-SLIP SHOES REQUIRED.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Ability to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Must be able to pass a background check to include a credit history report and meet corporate minimum requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a ABO Card and LATC Permit

  • NON-SLIP SHOES REQUIRED.

    Education and/or Experience

  • At least one-year experience as a bartender, restaurants (with banquet facilities), convention centers or arenas

  • Experience with upscale dining in a restaurant or similar type facility preferred

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • 1-2 years' experience as a bartender in a high-volume restaurant, theatre, or banquet facility preferred

    Skills and Abilities

  • Good oral communication skills and the ability to read write and communicate effectively in English.

  • Excellent hospitality and customer service skills, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

  • Knowledge of popular mixed drink recipes and preparation methods.

  • Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters

  • Able to understand directives and utilize basic mathematical skills

    Computer Skills

  • Ability to operate a cash register & credit card machine

  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds unaided.

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination

  • Must be able to balance and have good manual dexterity
