JOB DESIGNATION

Manufacturing Engineer 3 will use their expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase capabilities to produce products. Design improves and installs integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing and supply chain environment. Directly impacts all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, as well as the sustaining and growth efforts of operations.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Provides objective, functional, and financial engineering guidance on capital expenditures to division management and follows up on the implementation process

• Coordinates all phases of cost reduction; forecasts labor and equipment requirements to ensure adequate equipment, machine capacity, and labor

• Collaborate with stakeholders, including production, engineering, and maintenance teams, to understand needs and specifications for automation projects

• Troubleshoot and debug automation systems to ensure proper functionality and performance

• Provides knowledge and expertise, acting as a professional resource for colleagues

• Reduce costs and improve manufacturing profits, using significant expertise on complex issues, best practices, industry trends, and professional knowledge

• Automation and Control Systems: Evaluate, select, and integrate robotic systems, control systems, and other automation technologies to automate manufacturing processes

• PLC Programming and HMI Development: Develop and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to control and monitor manufacturing processes

• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary

• Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing infrastructure, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems

• Develop and execute test plans, perform system integration tests, and validate automation solutions against defined specifications

• Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of automation systems

• Create and maintain documentation, including user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM’s), and troubleshooting guides for automation systems

• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate risks associated with automated systems

• Design and create human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for operators to interact with and monitor automated systems

• Ensure seamless integration between PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:Bachelor's degree in engineering is required

Years Experience:min 5 years of experience in automation technologies, including robotics, software programming, tooling, and test equipment design

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues

• Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement

• Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge

• Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools

• Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and coordination of automation projects

WORK AUTHORIZATION:This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident is required for most positions.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $90K-$150K.
