Job Description
The Third Judicial District Juvenile Court Services has an opening for Juvenile Court Officer 1.
The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial Branch employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The hourly pay rate for this position is $25.27 – $40.29 per hour. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience. There is also compensatory time off and overtime opportunities.
Location:The position will be domiciled in the Woodbury County Juvenile Court Services office located in Sioux City.
Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

The responsibilities for this position include:
Handling matters pertaining to delinquent youth, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 232, including intake, diversion, supervision, and prevention activities
Making recommendations to the Court regarding detention and custody, conducts pre-dispositional investigations, prepares reports to the court, testifies in court about dispositional and other recommendations, incorporates evidenced based practices into daily work, supervises probation, motivates youth and families and engages them in the change process, coordinates and monitors services provided by various agencies to juvenile clients
Responsible for responding to emergency matters outside of normal working hours
Serves as a peace officer during the performance of his/her duties

Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in law, criminal justice, criminology, sociology or related social sciences
Additional Qualification Requirements
Possess personal integrity and emotional maturity
Successfully complete training requirements set by the Iowa Supreme Court
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, unless an exception is made
