Summary
The primary purpose of the jockey driver is to transfer full/empty trailers from the holding areas to the dock area and then transfer empty/Full trailers from the dock area to designated parking spaces and to include regular rotation to other positions within the department.
Schedule : M-F 4:30am to 2:30pm
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operates jockey truck transferring trailers to and from the processing area.
Ensures that trailers are processed in the order designated by management.
Ensures that YMS (Yard Management System) is updated and policy followed. Keeping the yard organized and in order.
Perform pre-op inspection of vehicle and post-op cleaning daily and managed the refer units(settings) in the yard.
Yard checks are done 2 times in a 24hr period. Helping the vendors and service techs.
Being able to operate the Yard tractor computer and being able to enter the yard check in the system.
Communicate with the gate, the dock office, and management.
Responsible for seal integrity and the reporting of an accurate /verified case count and condition of product during deliveries.
Observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, logbook, vehicle inspections, load inspections, and securing load. To include utilizing electronic logging device (paper logs when needed), on board vehicle tracking system in efficient manner.
Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal/safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies. To include the utilization of all on board safety features.
Minimum Education
High school or equivalent
Required
Valid Drivers License, Reading and writing skills
Preferred
Class A CDL, Strong communication skills. some computer skills
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Works outdoors year round in seasonal temperatures with noise exposure of 96.2 db; light intensity of less than 5' candles. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (35 to 65 lbs) to heights from 5" to 84", reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly. May need to have the ability to operate standup lift for 9 plus hours.
