  The POET Never Satisfied Internship openings are for Summer 2025. We post Internships in September with the intent to have interns selected by January 1st each yea r.

  JOB SUMMARY

  As an Information Security Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of information security. You will work closely with team members at POET to assist in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security risks and threats. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of information security practices, policies, and procedures while allowing you to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.

  DURING A TYPICAL DAY

• Security Monitoring:Assist in monitoring security alerts and incidents to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.

• Vulnerability Assessment:Conduct vulnerability scans and assist in analyzing the results to determine potential weaknesses in the organization's systems and applications.

• Incident Response:Support the incident response team in handling security incidents, documenting findings, and assisting in post-incident analysis.

• Policy and Procedure Development:Contribute to the development and review of information security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• User Awareness:Assist in educating employees on best security practices and promote a culture of security awareness within the organization.

• Security Tools:Gain experience with various security tools and technologies used for monitoring, analysis, and detection of security threats.

• Documentation:Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of security incidents, assessments, and procedures.

• Security Research:Stay up-to-date with current information security trends and threats by conducting research and staying informed about industry developments.

• Collaboration:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security-related issues and help integrate security into business processes.

  STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

• Minimum of junior or senior level college student pursuing a four (4) year degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Basic understanding of information security concepts and best practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Knowledge of security tools and technologies is a plus (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, firewall).

• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.

  WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Up to 25% travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit the bioprocessing facilities, meetings and site visits. At times overnight travel may be required.
