Job Title: Project SurveyorJob Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Surveyor (non-licensed) to join our team in Northern Indiana. This position offers the opportunity to work out of one of our offices in Crown Point, South Bend, or Fort Wayne. You will perform a variety of surveying tasks, including topographic surveys, easement work, and structural measure downs. You will collaborate closely with licensed surveyors and project managers to collect and analyze data, ensuring accurate and timely completion of surveying projects. You will predominantly work in the field, supported by modern Trimble equipment and software.
Responsibilities
Assist and perform topo surveys to gather elevation and boundary data for development projects.
Assist with easement work, including identifying and documenting property boundaries and rights-of-way.
Perform structural measure downs and provide detailed measurements and documentation for various structures.
Prepare field notes, data, and photos for review by licensed surveyors and project teams.
Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to support project requirements.
Assist in supporting other offices with surveys.
Essential Skills
Minimum 3 years of field experience operating and performing surveys, including crew chief experience.
Ability to process survey field data, including importing CSV files into Civil 3D and ensuring the drawing is accurate and labeled correctly.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight if needed.
Experience with Trimble equipment and software, including total stations, GPS units, and R-12 data collectors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience creating surfaces in Civil 3D is a significant advantage.
Proficiency with Trimble Business Center (TBC), AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
Work Environment
This position typically involves working Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, with some weeks potentially being Monday through Thursday (4 days, 10 hours). The standard workweek is 40-45 hours. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours over 40 per week. When permanent, the position is salaried, with overtime paid as straight time. A company vehicle will be provided once the employee is permanent. The role involves working primarily on utility (water/wastewater) projects, with no heavy transportation work or construction staking. The survey team supports a variety of projects for municipal clients. The team consists of three members, all based out of Indianapolis.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
