About the role

Stantec’s Transport Planning and Advisory team partners with its clients to provide traffic and transport solutions for the community and we are currently seeking a Senior Principal - Transport/ Team Leader to join our team based in Brisbane.

As Team Leader, you will provide leadership to ensure alignment to company strategy, initiatives, vision, and culture. You will be the advocate of the business both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organisations within the region. The Team Leader position is a function, in addition to an employee’s substantive technical/ project contribution role as a Senior Principal - Transport.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Perform broad, varied and diverse engineering design tasks, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.

  • Assess and designs road, intersection and parking layouts, including spaces, aisles, and grades.

  • Engage in the development of design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats, and prepare and revise documentation in various engineering phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, diagrams, submittal reviews and response to information requests as required.

  • Prepare the conceptual, preliminary and final design and attends client project requirement meetings.

  • Prepare engineering feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.

  • Confirm adherence to construction specifications during each phase of a project. Monitor project progress, inspect construction sites, and verify calculations and placements.

  • Undertake site inspections and gather base information on parking controls, road widths, location of services, parking facilities and other such features.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Minimum of seven years of related work experience

  • Effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders

  • Collaborative approach to work and team mentality along with managing staff

  • Significant Transport Planning experience with demonstrable ability – we would hope that you have managed projects and had a large amount of autonomy on projects

  • Strong capability to manage workload and deliver projects

  • Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously .
