Sharp Electronics Corporation Automotive Program Manager in Southfield, Michigan

Overview

The Automotive Program Manager position is responsible for taking the lead in managing and delivering Program Management aspects of SMA’s automotive direct business. The individual will lead and resolve cross-functional commercial, manufacturing, and technical issues in a proactive manner both within the company, and between the company and the CUSTOMER Design Release Engineer (DRE) and Product Development Team (PDT). The position is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with Sharp’s Domestic Manufacturing groups as well as third party Contract Manufacturing (CM) companies as required to develop, launch, and maintain automotive direct business.

The Automotive Program Manager is the person responsible for leading the team that executes the many tasks required in the development and launch of a product for manufacturing in a global organization. This role is highly leveraged or “matrixed” and requires the person to be a commercially and technically capable individual that can get work done by others in their organization and at the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Program Management and leadership to multi-functional teams for the successful launch of new products.

  • Develop and then track project timelines based on internal requirements and customer deliverables.

  • Responsible to make sure timing is met and is willing to elevate any issues to internal management and the customer.

  • Coordination of the activities of Engineering, Production, Quality, and Logistics as outlined in the APQP Process.

  • Understands all customer requirements for the project, Timelines, communicates them to the team, and ensures that the team meets or exceeds them.

  • Build strong relationships within CUSTOMER organizations through regular communication and quick follow-up with customers.

  • Responsible for tracking engineering change control, maintaining both internal and customer open issues lists, and developing problem resolution action plans for subsystem/component issues.

  • Provide Regular program updates to upper management.

  • Coordinate necessary communication meetings, support taskforces, support Japanese staff between Sharp and CUSTOMER

  • Represent CUSTOMER’S position when communicating within Sharp.

  • Maintains Business Records in accordance with defined guidelines.

  • Incorporation of product and process design best practices and lessons learned.

  • Support vehicle build process and vehicle signoff activities for all prototypes and manufacturing builds.

  • Support assembly plant or Tier 1 build events and development events

  • Support manufacturing and assembly plant problem resolution process

  • Support PPAP Activities

  • Release knowledge of parts within the customer systems ECP/ECR, PRTS, TWOs.

  • Work with Offshore team for component validation and track progress through ADVP&R.

  • Ability to work with GM Validation system CEMENT, and working knowledge of GMW1829, GMW3172, DRBTR.

  • Update and review VCRI with DRE & PDT.

  • Experience in TALC Process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in program management, design, product development, sales, quality, engineering, and/or manufacturing within the automotive industry.

  • Moderately proficient with all Microsoft Office applications but very proficient in Excel (able to sort, pivot, and filter data to draw valid and statistically relevant conclusions).

  • PM or Engineering Experience in Handling Electronic Components.

  • Japanese language is plus.

  • This position requires international travel,working in different time zones , handle multiple programs.

  • This position will be through Sharp’s partner Trilogy and consideration of conversion to SEC position at a later time. Benefits are available thru Trilogy.

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this consultant role is $86,250- $150,000. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
