Girl Scouts of South Carolina - Mountains to Midlands Donor Relations Manager in Spartanburg, South Carolina

Position will be based at one of our Service Center locations in Columbia, Greenville or Spartanburg

TheDonor Relations Manageris responsible for the effective use of the donor management platform, managing the fund development stewardship plan, supporting the work of the fund development team, and managing a specific donor portfolio as a part of the overall fund development plan.

Accountabilities

Donor Management Platform (40%):

  • Administrator of the donor management software platform, Bloomerang, and its ancillaries.
  • Maintain, extract, and manipulate highly confidential data; comply with council standards of data protection and hold end users accountable for doing so.
  • Maintain data accuracy and improve the quality of the platform's functionality.

Stewardship Plan (20%):

  • Create/process appropriate gift acknowledgements with tax information according to the fund development stewardship plan for communications and timeliness.
  • Assign activities to fund development team members according to the stewardship plan and track accountability.
  • Create and implement donor stewardship communications according to the stewardship plan (for example, impact statements, newsletters, individual correspondence, etc.).

Support (20%):

  • Manage all funding records, including file preparedness, weekly and monthly reports, data segmentation, paper files, campaign files, dashboards, ROI reports, and other reports.
  • Support event planning, implementation, volunteers, attendees, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Support fund development projects within the council's strategic plan.

Manage Donor Portfolio (20%):

  • Responsible for developing and managing an active portfolio of prospects and donors achieving benchmark targets and closures exceeding the minimum annual goal as outlined in the Fund Development plan.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer (CDO), cultivate, solicit new donors, and reestablish relationships with lapsed donors by cultivating an ongoing relationship designed to move a donor prospect to a greater level of engagement, makes personal contact with donors focusing on retention and upgrades of individual gifts, gaining sound understanding and commitment of the donor.
  • Partner with CDO and other fund development staff in driving the Emerald Circle campaign (within an assigned area), providing direction and encouragement for regular contributions supporting girl leadership.

General:

  • Understand and apply relevant IRS rules, donor rights, and GSUSA standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Attend and participate in fund development meetings, council staff meetings, and with other committees as requested.
  • Assists in the smooth functioning of the council by performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred and 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of fundraising methodologies, donor database system, donor management, and event planning.
  • Documented success with information, analysis, work plan formulation, written materials preparation, goal articulation and action plan creation and execution.
  • Working knowledge of a customer service delivery model and engaged, participatory management; and project management.
  • Upon hire, must hold personal membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Must have personal transportation and the ability to drive; possess a valid driver's license; maintain personal auto insurance/meet the council insurance company's requirement for coverage; and submit to drug test and background check.
