WAGSTAFF INC Fluid Power Design Intern in Spokane Valley, Washington

Wagstaff Description:

This position is a full-time temporary position, lasting 3-4 months.

 

Job Summary

Provide technical consultation and create technical documents relevant to fluid power component and system designs. Assist and/or define project-specific design requirements, develop design solutions, and provide technical support to internal and external customers.

 

Pay: $18.50 - $23.50 per hour, depending on experience

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Participate with project teams to define the hydraulic and pneumatic power requirements beyond the proposal and order preparation phase of a project
  • Assist in fluid power systems design
  • Assist in creation of the design documents necessary for acquiring customer approval for fluid power designs
  • Review the approval drawings and resultant manufacturing drawings for accuracy and compliance with relevant industrial safety standards
  • Prepare, check, and release fluid power design documents
  • Become familiar with Wagstaff aluminum casting equipment, associated design criteria and philosophies
  • Assist shop floor personnel with reading and interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Assist with troubleshooting of manufacturing problems
  • Maintain required and accurate paperwork
  • Perform housekeeping, organization and maintenance of work area and tools
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may regularly be required
  • Abide by company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an Associate of Arts degree in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Automation Technology program
  • Knowledge of design and operation of fluid power equipment
  • Experience using CAD to create design documents preferred
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Knowledge of shop procedures, machining operations, and other fabrication methods

     

Working Environment

While performing the primary duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.

This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
