Pharmacy Technician Springfield, MA General Description: The Pharmacy
Technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient
consumption under the general supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and
in accordance with standard departmental procedures. Reports to: Staff
Pharmacist Supervises: N/A Salary/Status: Non-Exempt Minimum
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Certified Pharmacy
Technician licensed by passing the National Pharmacy Technician
Certification Exam. Must be flexible and be able to work different
schedules to meet client and Pharmacy needs. Possess detailed knowledge
of OTC drugs and laws governing OTC drugs Possess thorough knowledge of
the Pharmacy Technician Procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills
required for working with patients and staff. Demonstrate strong verbal
and written communication skills. Be able to work in a fast-paced
environment. Possess the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect; regard for patient
privacy is essential. Familiarity with data collections and data entry.
Organizational skills a must. Ability to work independently and with a
team. Computer literacy. Principle Responsibilities and Duties: Fill new
medication orders, refills and renewals for Caring Health Center
Pharmacy clients. Performs duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist.
Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control.
Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of
practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in
the department operations manual. Restock shelves in the dispensing
areas as stock replacement for the pick stations. Prepares in accordance
with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice outpatient RX?s to
be dispensed after pharmacist approval. Credit Client medications that
are returned. Checks and removes outdated meds on a routine basis to
ensure that no deteriorated meds are in stock. Keep appropriate records.
Prepare and coordinate shipment of prescription orders. Help pharmacists
in training new technicians and cross training other technicians.
Continues to educate by attending drug in-services and keeping up with
policy changes. Make recommendations to the Pharmacist as to how methods
and procedures can be improved. Ability to help others whenever and
wherever there is a backlog. Being accurate, fast, knowledgeable,
thorough and complete in one?s work. Willingness t o learn new
responsibilities. Working Conditions: This position requires the ability
to use a computer workstation, viewing a CRT and operating a keyboard.
This requires frequent standing and walking to storage shelves and
