The Forensic Mental Health Program provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
The Direct Care and Treatment Forensic Mental Health Program is looking for an excited, qualified person-centered, compassionate individual that will enjoy working with a diverse population as the St. Peter, MN campus' Café Operator. This position exists to operate and maintain a canteen/café or patient store; to order supplies and equipment; to prepare food and items for sale; to prepare reports and correspondence, processing transactions, and making deposits from sales to the Business Office. To provide on-the-job training for patient workers to help them develop work skills.
Key responsibilities:
To provide coverage of the canteens or stores so that services are satisfactorily provided to the clients and health and comply with the Minnesota Department of Health Branch titled Minnesota Food Code to ensure sanitation standards are met.
To accurately maintain inventory and sales records.
To process invoices for payment, providing goods and services have been received and accepted by the store. To provide accounting and fiscal control, sufficient to compare costs and projections and actual costs of the store’s activity.
To maintain skills so store services are provided at ethical and treatment facility standards. Participate in CQI activities so opportunities for client care and treatment are provided.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid State of Minnesota (MN) Driver's License
Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate averages;
Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to perform typing tasks with accuracy, as well as complete reports, letters and data summaries.
Working knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, SWIFT, AVATAR, email, and other operating systems.
Customer Service Skills sufficient to communicate with patients and potentially resolve questions/concerns.
English Language skills sufficient to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and the general public.
Working knowledge of specific conditions of clients at the Forensic Mental Health Program and knowledge i.e. mental illness, developmental disabilities, personality disorders, psychopathic personalities, chemical dependency etc.
Knowledge of State and Federal Health Department regulations on food safety and sanitation. Experience cooking and planning on a large-scale basis.
Large scale food preparation, service techniques, Department of Health Standards and Ordinances.
Experience in working alongside patients and staff at the Forensics Mental Health Program.
Experience with catering large scale facility wide events.
Experience with cash and a cash register.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
One year experience in working in a large-scale food preparation setting with food service equipment.
Knowledge of forensic services specific policies related to a secure perimeter setting and canteen operation.
Ability to work in a team environment
