JOB REQUIREMENTS: Full-time, seasonal position, 40 hours per week.
Skills: Aquatics background with experience as a lifeguard preferred.
You must demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform pool safety and
rescue procedures. Be able to swim 300 yards, tread water for 2 minutes
and perform the brick test. Competencies: Must take pool safety very
seriously, be able to remain alert and attentive for extended periods of
time, and respond quickly and calmly to pool events. Must be dependable
and exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and
caring. Responsible for maintaining the safety of all pool patrons by
monitoring activities, enforcing pool rules, and responding to aquatic
emergencies. Additional duties include checking pool chemical levels,
maintaining logs of chemical readings, and recording usage counts.
Provide membership service to members and participants in Aquatic area.
Ensure the safety and well being of aquatic participants through
preventative lifeguarding. Always be alert and aware of potential danger
areas. Enforce all of the facility rules, policies, and regulations
consistently and correctly, and report any unsafe conditions to the
Aquatic Center Management Team. Position yourself to view the entire
pool area at all times. Do not assume any activity that would take your
eyes off the viewing of the pool such as socializing, reading, studying,
or sleeping. Remain on duty until relieved by another certified
lifeguard and ensure all doors are locked and secured when closing the
pool. Know and follow correct procedures for handling emergencies and
accidents. Maintain a neat pool area and keep all pool equipment out of
the path of traffic and immediately report to supervisor any unclean or
hazardous area. Complete and maintain accurate records as necessary,
including pool usage counts and chemical readings. Proactively
communicate with facility users on a daily basis. Answer and act on
member concerns, questions, or suggestions and report to the Aquatic
Center Management Team. Attend and participate in monthly staff
meetings/training. Assume all other duties and assignments as deemed
appropriate by the Aquatic Center Management Team. ***** OTHER
