Google Program Manager III, Supply Chain, Global Commodity Cost Management in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.

  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing or supply chain field and experience in product cost management, data analysis/reporting, and developing processes within Data center, electronics, or hardware industries.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience identifying cost drivers, inefficiencies, and designing strategies to reduce costs.

  • Understanding of methodologies to build accurate should-cost models for Data center commodities and components, including gathering benchmarks and defining supplier manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to define a strategy, framework, or process, and influence teams to implement and drive results.

  • Excellent at analyzing, tracking, organizing, and presenting cost-related data in clear, concise formats and dashboards for all levels of technical and non-technical audiences.

The Global Commodity Cost Management team is made up of program managers responsible for delivering data-driven commodity cost insights, analysis, and strategic solutions. This work enables cost savings/avoidance on optimized designs, manufacturability, and sourcing. The team additionally partners with cross-functional teams to define, track, and report key metrics and targets, provides program management representation, and manages related tool sets and data processes.

As a Program Manager, you will be a key partner within the Global Commodity Management team and will lead cost analysis, tracking, and reporting. You will develop and use should-cost models to enable successful cost reduction negotiations.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Develop and implement should-cost models for a wide variety of commodity parts and assemblies, while utilizing technical and industry knowledge and data to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities to optimize costs.

  • Develop data-driven negotiation strategies leveraging should-cost models in partnership with commodity managers to maximize cost reductions, while actively influencing discussions and challenging conventional thinking to optimize commodity costs.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify design and manufacturing cost reduction opportunities during early development stages.

  • Track, report, and present cost-related data to all organizational levels, working with Finance and commodity teams to deliver insights through presentations, tools, and dashboards.

  • Provide program management leadership while working on global projects with key stakeholders, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Global Commodity Managers.
