The opportunity
We are seeking a research assistant to join TEVA’s growing speciality R&D, antibody discovery program in Sydney, Australia.
You will conduct R&D on therapeutic antibody discovery projects with a focus on single B cell screening workflows by employing antibody expression, characterisation, and purification techniques
How you’ll spend your day
This is a hands-on laboratory-based role within the lead generation team including the following capabilities and responsibilities:
Expression and screening of antibodies
Mammalian cell expression and purification of recombinant antibodies
Antibody screening using Flow Cytometry, Surface Plasmon Resonance and ELISA
Antibody characterisation by chromatographic methods
Development of assays for single cell screening platforms
Generation of reagents for immunisation and screening
Preparation and purification of DNA
General tissue culture and maintenance of mammalian cell lines
Isolate mouse B cells using cell sorting, including B cell staining and data analysis.
Conduct single B cell screens, export, and transfer hits for sequencing.
Work hand in hand with other teams including cell-based assays, protein science to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
Provide regular updates in the form of presentations.
Compliance with all employee health and safety, PC2 and gene technology guidelines including adherence to TEVA policies and procedures.
Corporate citizenship, including serving on in-house committees.
Continuous development learning new skills and support R&D organization with other tasks when needed.
Your experience and qualifications
A Bachelor in life sciences with a relevant Honours or Master’s degree
In depth knowledge of recombinant protein expression, purification and performing quality assessments required.
High level of proficiency and experience in Flow Cytometry
Strong experience in mammalian cell culture techniques
Previous experience with SPR techniques and/or ELISA will be highly regarded.
Additional knowledge of molecular biology techniques will be advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail, good communication, documentation skills and ability to multi-task
Keen interest in learning new technology and an imagination for practical application will be highly valued.
Excellent ability to organize and prioritize tasks across multiple projects and deliver according to timelines.
