Health-related activities and non-nursing tasks can also be assigned to SNAs.

Student Nurse Assistants work in a variety of patient care areas including: General Med/Surg, Cardiac/Tele, Oncology, Post-Op, Neuroscience, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Recovery Care Center, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, and Antepartum/Post-partum. The Student Nursing Assistant role is designed for students enrolled in an accredited nursing program who have either: 1) completed their fundamentals of nursing coursework and at least one hospital-based clinical setting or 2) have prior certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or Medical Assistant. Applicants should be very comfortable with taking vital signs and reporting abnormal values. Students in this position are required to work 32 total hours per month and must complete at least one 4-hour evening shift and one 4-hour night shift each month.

Job Requirements: Students from other area nursing schools are eligible to apply if they are certified as a Nursing Assistant in NY State, or once they have successfully completed fundamentals of nursing coursework, and a clinical rotation in a hospital setting.
