Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Lead - Financial Accountant to be based in Manila, Philippines

This role is primarily responsible for autonomously performing periodic financial transactions and ad hoc tax activities in accordance with tax compliance, generally accepted accounting principles, finance policies, and internal controls. The role is expected to provide technical expertise and lead junior team members in ensuring alignment in financial procedures, processes, and systems to business requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assumes responsibility in the maintaining financial management and reporting systems and complementary financial and administrative business processes, to support the effective and judicious use of financial resources.

  • Leads in the maintenance of a documented system of accounting process, policies and procedures like SOP and DTPs, including the maintenance of the Fixed Asset register and management of the Blackline Reconciliation.

  • Demonstrates adept knowledge of the organization’s financial policies, procedures, processes, systems and supporting technology.

  • Applies expertise in processing financial transactions to ensure the effective recording and tracking of revenues and expenditures.

  • Prepares journal entries and synthesize common ledger for subsidiary accounts.

  • Performs complex tasks in compliance with process, policies, procedures, and SOX & internal controls.

  • Resolves identified issues independently and keeps the Finance Manager updated for open or ongoing concerns.

  • Addresses critical and unique issues with the guidance of Finance Manager for timely resolution of escalated issues.

  • Prepares financial reports and final accounts in compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements and general accepted accounting standards autonomously.

  • Leads with monthly closings, account analysis and supports the Finance Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the Business Office

  • Develops and prepare reports, analyses, and presentations for periodic and ad hoc requirements.

  • Drives completion of audit processes by coordinating with stakeholders, join auditors in walk throughs, and review submitted documents.

  • Leads and support key projects, audit reviews, activities, and documentation.

  • Recommends process and procedural improvements to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.

  • Works with Finance Manager to develop process improvement initiatives to streamline processes, improve customer experience, and increase productivity.

  • Identifies risks and propose ways to prevent occurrence of similar issues and concerns.

  • Applies expert knowledge on relevant local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations in managing taxation and tax-related issues.

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in the specific areas of tax, duties, and government levies.

  • Ensures compliance with Philippine regulatory reporting requirements such as BIR, SEC, and BOI.

  • Identifies potential tax exposure and advises accordingly. Advise on the impact of changes in tax laws on the organization. Explains the organization’s tax policies and plays a key role in their implementation.

  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to junior members of the team in completing projects and performing financial activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent relevant courses

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in Finance or Accounting

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and procedures and internal controls.

  • Experience working with ERP, e.i., Oracle and Blackline Systems is an advantage or other similar platforms and tools
