Bureau Description:

The Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention works to prevent and reduce the impact of chronic diseases and disabling conditions by addressing associated modifiable risk factors. Chronic diseases including heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and asthma are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems in Florida and in the U.S. The Bureau develops, implements, and evaluates health promotion activities, primary and secondary prevention services, and community-based health interventions across the state. The Bureau partners with state and local agencies, health systems, and community partners to encourage best practices statewide. The Bureau also promotes the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all program activities. The Bureau supports community and state-level partnerships including activities that promote the Department’s Healthy Communities of Florida Program. These partnerships ensure coordination and collaboration among and between stakeholders and providers to stimulate and support efficient and effective delivery of health care.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a professional position that serves as a Grant Manager within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention, Division of Community Health Promotion. This position reports to the Operations Manager C – SES under the Contract Administration Section in the Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides oversight of budget management for all grants located within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention which includes completion of grant applications and all applicable documents; coordination and completion of reports for internal projects and grants; actively manages budgets for grants and applicable funding.

  • Ensures staff are utilizing funds for programs;monitors encumbrance and Schedule C reports.

  • Coordinates and monitors the budget from allocation by domain and category (salaries, contracts, expense, etc.), tracks expenditures.

  • Coordinates assignments related to grants and ensures grant reports are submitted timely and accurately.

  • Acts as contract manager for assigned contracts; prepares required contract documents, processes invoices in a timely manner; conducts contract monitoring; and completes other duties required for contract managers.

  • Assists the Bureau Budget Manager with trainings regarding budgets for grants and provides technical assistance to internal staff and partners.

  • Provides support to the Operations Manager C – SES regarding special projects.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Preferred candidate will possess bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, economics, finance, business management, risk management and insurance, or actuarial science or similar field and 2 or more years of work experience in budgeting or accounting.
