    Overview

Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Employee Relations, Compliance, and Safety, the Corporate Safety Manager manages safety initiatives and programs across Chadwell Supply’s national footprint of branch and office facilities. He/she is responsible for the development, implementation, and success of the Chadwell Supply Safety Programs and guides on all safety matters with a focus on balancing business needs and organizational risk. He/she also supports the maintenance and continuous improvement of all OSHA and DOT compliance standards.

What you will need

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or 6 years of safety management experience.

  • Experience handling complex safety issues, including a successful track record of conducting safety investigations.

  • Must be OSHA 30 Certified, CSP preferred.

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in training, mentoring, and coaching others.

    How you will make an impact

  • Provide expertise on safety matters ranging from basic to complex or high risk.

  • Maintain a current understanding of federal and local laws and regulations relative to safety and advise Operations and leadership regarding responsibilities, partnering with leadership to ensure effective communication to the organization of necessary information.

  • Assist in the continuous enhancement of the company's Emergency Preparedness plans.

  • Assist the Director in representing the company for unannounced Government visits (OSHA, EPA, or other State and Federal regulatory agencies) and address any issues that may arise on a site level.

  • Spearheaded the company safety programs to ensure the appropriate accident and incident management and reporting in keeping with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct workplace safety investigations, presenting stakeholders with thoughtful recommendations and action steps.

  • Partner with the Learning and Development team on safety education and training.

  • Partner with leadership to ensure driver training is completed for every active driver in each location.

  • Partner with leadership in the implementation of the elements of our Risk Management process impacting fleet and delivery operations, including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and management of incidents.

  • Ensure safety policy updates are completed promptly.

  • Investigate the root cause of accidents and incidents to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future and provide recommendations to management to mitigate repeat issues. Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards.

  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

  • Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.

  • Review the submitted monthly Warehouse Facility Inspection forms and follow up to ensure compliance.

  • Investigate and respond to identified health and safety complaints or concerns.

  • Work with HR on record-keeping requirements including DOT and OSHA requirements.
