Grant Accountant | Tampa, FL
Job Description
This position does not require prior grant experience. The successful candidate will perform journal entries, reconciliations, reporting duties, and preparation of expense and reimbursement packets.
Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and budget vouchers with backup documentation.
Analyze data, reconcile GL accounts, and verify the accuracy of accounting classifications.
Maintain files and records (both computer and documents) as required.
Prepare periodic and special reports of grant account status or analysis as required.
Submit work assignments to the supervisor for review of accuracy and completeness.
Address issues related to grants accounting as needed and ensure compliance with grantor and institutional requirements.
Attend trainings and meetings, as needed.
Assist the grants office and institutional research office with reviewing new grant applications and related budgets.
Prepare for audits and respond to auditors' questions.
Ensure compliance for Federal, State, local, and private grants.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with debits/credits, preparing and recording journal entries, expense reports, billing reimbursements, and financial reports for grants.
2+ years of experience in Accounting.
Experience within GAAP.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
Fund accounting experience preferred.
Experience in reconciliation and month-end processes.
Project management skills.
Work Environment
This position is fully on-site with standard working hours. The workweek is 37.5 hours, and the role offers holidays and generous PTO upon conversion. The team is tight-knit and supportive, providing opportunities to gain more knowledge of grant accounting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.94 - $24.94/hr.
