Job Title: **Marine Health and Safety Technician

Must have the following to apply:

  • High School or GED
  • 3 years of HSE experience and relevant training
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Can pass visible emissions test
  • First Aid/CPR trained

**Job Description: The Health, Safety, and Environmental Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving company HSE initiatives. The HSE Technician will correct unsafe acts, maintain awareness of active and developing situations, help monitor and assess risk in all facets of work performed. Communicate with operations to ensure planning of all activities and mitigation of hazards.

Duties and Responsibility:**

  • Vessel HSE inspections of confined and enclosed spaces prior to employees shift and install inspection tags
  • Ensure fire protection is available and in working order
  • Monitor employees for safe work practices
  • Check for unsecured deck openings, tripping hazard, and fire hazards
  • Inspect vessels during extended breaks or shift end for gas, oxygen, or water lines that have not been disconnected at their manifold and brought to the top deck
  • Provide first aid for injured workers
  • Maintain daily competent inspection logs to be kept aboard the vessel for verification of confined space inspection
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local HSE regulations
  • Respond to HSE incidents and help perform corrective actions (containment and clean up, medical transport, etc.)
  • Accompany Marine Chemist on vessel inspections and post certificate on vessel
  • Communicate with all levels of staff
  • Ensure reporting of all incidents and near misses and perform incident investigation
  • Work and navigate confined and enclosed spaces at heights
